AYVARN

Farm climate and power monitoring

A multi-shed poultry farm where problems were being discovered at the morning round instead of when they happened.

The problem

Nobody is in the shed at 3 a.m.

Each shed had its own controller, and each controller was only visible to someone standing in front of it. A fan stopping overnight, or a generator failing to pick up, was only noticed on the next round.

What we did

  • Installed temperature and humidity sensors per shed, plus fan status feedback.
  • Added power and generator monitoring at the farm supply.
  • Connected the controllers to a single on-site monitoring box.
  • Configured Ayvarn SCADA with per-shed screens, alarm limits and trends.
  • Set up alarm delivery to the owner's and manager's phones.

The result

The alarm arrives before the damage.

The owner can open one screen and see every shed's temperature and ventilation state, and gets an alert when a shed goes out of band or the power fails. Overnight history is available the next morning, so patterns can be seen instead of remembered.

Running sheds?

We'll survey the farm and propose what to monitor first — usually temperature, ventilation and power.
